🦃 Camera Practice & Roommate Friendsgiving (November 17, 2023)

📸 With finals fast approaching in December, the month of November was one of my favorites in terms of enjoying my senior year. It was the month that I finally felt settled into this academic year. This day was one of my favorites for many reasons.

  1. I got to host my first Friendsgiving and bond with my roommates and their friends. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (besides the controversial part) and it was nice to do that after a long day.

  2. I got to shoot one of my interviews for my video final project and I got to test how to use an actual lighting kit like I was in the field.

  3. I got to take photos of my friend May for a personality profile I was writing on her for one of our classes.

My mom always told me that senior year of college would be my favorite because you get to do the work you actually care about. The work that inspires you in your profession. I couldn't agree with her more but I am sad that it takes getting to your senior year to do assignments that actually matter to your major. This day was one of my favorites because I had work-life balance. I remembered to indulge in my personal life while also doing work towards my degree. Last year I suffered from academic burnout because I thought I could take breaks when I finished all my homework and that's not how it works. That is not how it works because the homework is never-ending as a full-time upperdivision student.

My biggest piece of advice that I gained from this day for transfers is to remember to rest. You can't perform well academically if you don't take care of your body. My other entry said to remember to recharge. You need to rest first to recharge. Remember that you have a life outside of CSUF and that is good to take homework breaks for your mental health. You can rest for success and lean on the others around you for support too.😴
