🐘 Transfers Fall in Love with Fullerton (November 3 – 4, 2023)

🐘 It was the weekend of Fall in Love with Fullerton at CSUF and the campus was alive with the sound of incoming Spring 2024 students. Freshmen and transfers from all around the world were coming to "fall in love with Fullerton" as the event suggests. The event was created to help give admitted and incoming students an idea of what it is like to come to CSUF. I believe the best way to learn is to talk to current students as this event shows a saturated version of what day-to-day life is on campus.

Funnily enough, I got to do that the day before at transfer conference that my center held in Titan Student Union. The conference was for all CSU transfer centers and system staff to learn more about transfers iniatives happening throughout the system. As a transfer student assistant in my center, I was asked to speak on the transfer student experience panel. To put it simply, I spoke my mind about the problems I had with the transfer process not only at CSUF but the CSU system in general. It was a rare day for me considering I usually keep my mouth shut about systemwide things that I think I have no impact on. This was the event where it would though because there were high up CSU administrative staff there that had the power to change the current processes.

I also felt like a powerful member of the panel considering I applied to transfer to 6 different CSU's in Fall 2021. It was udder chaos trying to navigate all those transfer agreements just to have safety school backups. But at the end of the day, I made it to CSUF and days like Fall in Love with Fullerton show me just how far I have come since my inital transfer to CSUF in Fall 2022. I have grown so much as a person in professional ways I never could have thought of when applying. CSUF was originally my safety school when I applied and I thought it wouldn't challenge me as one of the lesser known CSU's. I was so wrong and I am glad I was.

My advice to transfers after this weekend is to remember that your unique voice and experience matters. Advocate for your fellow students and transfers because that might just be the key to help you feel like you belong at CSUF. Just like I did. ✨
